The molder fiberglass side chairs are designed by the famous couple Ray & Charles Eames.
Ray and Charles Eames were an married couple from America. But above all, they were industrial designers who made significant and historical architecture and furniture through the work of the Eames Office.
As a result of their good teamwork, Charles and Ray Eames received in 1979 the Award for most influential Designer of the 20th Century. Now, 40 years later Eames is without doubt still one of the most influential Designers and it certainly shows.
However, here you see The Molded fiberglass side chairs from Eames, produced by Herman Miller. In 1948 Charles and Ray Eames took part in the “International Competition For Low-Cost Furniture Design” organized by the Museum of Modern Art in New York. Their entry was a chair with a seat shell. It was adapted to the contours of the human body. Their design won second prize. However, the metal seat shell turned out to be too complex and too expensive for successful mass production.
