The design of the Alu Chair was originally for outdoors. The chair was for Anne Holtrop’s Bahrain pavillion at the World Expo 2015 in Milan. It is made of aluminum, so the chair is quite light. The chair is suited for both indoor and outdoor use. Because of the treatment with beeswax and an uv protective lacquer. The aluminum frame of the chair shines bright while the colored back and seating give it that typical Muller Van Severen aesthetic.
These chairs are painted in a powder coating, meaning the designers could choose any color they wanted. Tough choice! So in the end Muller van Severen chose sixteen color combinations, which is a larger number than they usually work with. This multiplicity makes it look extra fun and you can create a very playful or rather serious environment.
